GCU - A Brief History
In
1982 several Goldfields business leaders discussed the concept of a Goldfields
owned community based financial institution.
As a result of those initial discussions
a founder's meeting was called on May
25 th,1982 and the new Goldfields
Credit Union (GCU) became incorporated on June 1st, 1982.
GCU remains still proudly owned, operated and based in the Goldfields - Esperance
region, holding a solid reputation as the only truly local choice
for all your banking needs.
Since
1982 Goldfields Credit Union has made more than $122m in housing, personal
and business loans to local people.
In January,2004 GCU's application
for an Australian Financial Service (A.F.S) License was approved by the Australian
Securities & Investments Commission - ASIC (AFSLN. 246884).
GCU’s strength as a financial institution
lies in our ability to make local decisions and to quickly turn
around loan applications.
